Street Projects**
**
The Berlin City Council will be addressing First Stage improvements at the March 6 th, 2007 Committee of the Whole Meeting. Specifically the intersections of discussion will be Huron St. & Spring St., Broadway & Pierce St. This will include pavement striping, additional signage, and the loss of one parking stall.
Berlin City Council retained Traffic Engineering Services to create a 2020 Transportation Plan. This plan included Needs Assessment and Traffic Operations Analysis.
This Plan has helped to create:
-
A designated Heavy Traffic Route Ordinance
-
Timing of traffic signals to aid gaps at the Wisconsin & Huron St. intersection.
The next step is to address Safety Improvements at the high incident intersections and to implement smooth traffic flow for the Truck Routes. Included in this are letters and diagrams in PDF form to create safety improvements in the downtown area. These improvements are designed to help reduce accidents of motor vehicles, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic.
When navigating to the PDFs start by reviewing the letters from Traffic Engineering dated January 9, 2007 first and then the letter dated February 6, 2007. These letters describe the timing that the improvements should be made and comments from local business owners that are directly affected by the first stage improvements.
PDF 01 is a sight triangle diagram used to evaluate all intersections affected.
PDF 02 – 13 are overhead views of intersections that have shown high accident rates.
