<td> **OBEY THE LAW, PROTECT YOUR PET**No matter how careful most dog owners are, there's always the chance that their dog may become lost. If that happens, a dog that is <u>not</u> protected by a license, collar, and identification tag may be out of luck.
According to the American Humane Association, approximately 15 million dogs enter shelters throughout the United States each year as strays and tragically only 19% of these dogs are ever redeemed by their owners.
-
First, an up-to-date yearly city license and current rabies vaccination tags are required by law if you reside in the city limits of Berlin. All dogs, whether indoor or outdoor, are required to display their tags.
-
2004 City Licenses can be purchased at the Berlin City Clerk's office during regular business hours for all residents who own dogs within the city limits, the dog's rabies certification needs to be shown.<br />
-
Secondly, a collar with owner information and city tag/rabies tags are a lost dog's ticket home. Residents of the CITY OF BERLIN can call<br /> 361-2121 to report their dog lost to the Animal Control Officer. Stray dogs that are found in the city limits are held at the city pound for seven days or until their owners are found.
