**WELCOME TO HOLIDAY SEASON!**The 15th Annual Berlin Chamber of Commerce Holiday Parade will be held Sunday, November 11th 2001 at 5:00 PM, with line-up starting at 3:30 PM. The parade will run through the downtown section, from Berlin Middle School (formerly Berlin High School) to The Boys & Girls Club on Washington Street. Last years' parade was a huge success, and we are again encouraging participants to use lights on their parade entries.
Again this year, the parade committee has been successful in obtaining high school marching bands. However, each band will cost the Chamber $250 to bring in. Monetary donations to help offset the cost of the bands will be a big help in continuing this tradition.
To encourage participation, the Chamber is judging parade entries in two categories: Commercial and Non-Commercial categories will pay $75, $50, $25 for first, second, and third places. A "GRAND MARSHALL" plaque, accompanied with $100 cash, will be awarded to the entry with the best use of lights. Forty percent of your score will be judged in pre-stage, 60-percent will be scored at the judges stand in the parade.
In keeping with the spirit of the parade, ALL UNITS MUST BE DECORATED APPROPRIATELY! This does not apply to bands! The Berlin Chamber of Commerce reserves the right to omit any unit that, in their opinion, is not properly decorated for Christmas. The Santa Float is the highlight of the parade, and therefore, no other Santas are allowed on any other parade entry. Because of liability, throwing candy will be prohibited from any parade entry. Participants that walk along side their parade entry, and provide "hand-outs" are permissible.
Please contact the Berlin Chamber of Commerce office to obtain a parade entry form. If you have questions, please feel free to call the Chamber Office at 920-361-3636 or email berlinc@vbe.com.
Happy Holidays,
Carol Trampf Berlin Chamber of Commerce
